Good News!

So yesterday, I went into the hospital after having some pains that worried me. After being strapped to the monitors for a few minutes, I had a strong Braxton Hicks contraction.

Baby didn't respond well to it, and his heart rate went down to 60 beats per minute.

Within 30 seconds, there was a team of people in my room. They rolled me onto my left side, drew my blood, started an I.V. and did a cervical exam in the next minute. No longer than two minutes after my nurse had informed her collegues about our situation was there people in there, gearing up for an emergency C-section.

Luckily for baby, his heart rate came back up after about ten minutes of being low.

Josh arrived about 45 minutes after the scare, and my nurse told me that they were gonna keep me for 24 hours to monitor baby to make sure his heart rate didn't drop again. (From when I arrived to when I left, he didn't have any more issues with that)

This morning, we were told baby would be checked by ultrasound in the afternoon.

This is where we were informed of some surprising news.

Baby wasn't measuring on time, he was measuring three weeks, two days ahead. In other words, he measures 37 weeks, 3 days instead of 34 weeks 2 days.

We went back to my room to wait and see what my OB would say. After about thirty minutes, I was not only discharged, but I was told that because he's measuring so far ahead, if I go into labor starting from today, that they will just let him come.

I was so relieved! For the past two weeks or so, I've felt HUGE and uncomfortable and knowing that this pregnancy could literally be in the home stretch anytime, is such a weight off my shoulders!

Josh reminded me of something interesting while we were on our way to my parents house. I'd forgotten about it, but each and every ultrasound I've had, the tech has said that he was measuring ahead of his due date.

Also, we got some pictures of him from the ultrasound and he's already got some chub, which is not normal for a 34 week baby.

I recalled that during my first trimester ultrasound that my doctor said he was two weeks behind of what I had calculated by my last cycle.

I'm so excited that it could be any day now and I can't wait to meet my second little guy!!!

Lincoln 7 Week Update

I just wanted to write a quick update on how my little peanut is doing! Lincoln is getting stronger every day! He held his head up for a whole two minutes a few days ago and his stepping reflex is working like crazy whenever I try to make him bear weight on his legs. I've got a little body builder baby! He's starting to become more aware of what's going on around him. I'll walk around with him and he's always trying to look at everything, especially our bookcases. He just loves it! He's starting to hold onto toys! I put his baby keys in his hand and he held onto them for dear life! He's starting to get interested in different sounds, he's even turning toward them! As you can see, he's smiling now! He'll smile a lot when you talk to him in a baby voice and when you make cooing noises at him. He's making more cooing sounds himself! Something Terrible Happened

I'm not sure exactly how to start this post, but I know it needs to be written. I don't want to forget this experience even though it feels so painful. Last week, I was a little over 4 weeks along and my prenatal vitamins came in the mail. I was diligently making a pregnancy test chart to compare the darkness of the test lines from the day before. I was feeling so much better than I did before our pregnancy loss last year (the second line was visible for a day and then the line disappeared and my cycle started soon after) since the test line was clearly visible, even from an arms length away. The day after I started my vitamins, I noticed that my nausea had basically gone away, something I was thrilled about since I hate feeling sick like that. My skin started breaking out worse than it had all week and I chalked it up to pregnancy hormones.
