Lincoln Week 4 Update

Image
Lincoln is cuter than ever! Prepare to be bombarded with pictures!!! He's been frenzy feeding on and off this whole last week and its been making me so tired during the day! He'll want to eat every hour for 6-9 hours in a row. I wonder how much he's going to grow! Although the lack of him sleeping during the day is made up for because he's been sleeping between 6-7 hours a night for the past 3 nights in a row! He's finally smiling more! I don't think its targeted at anything just yet but from what I've seen of his little toothless smile, its already melting my heart! I think Lincoln has a 6th sense. Half of the time that I sit down to eat some food, he'll start crying and he won't stop! I've had many a wasted bowl of cereal over the past 4 weeks that I've ever had. Lincoln is getting SO big! I weighed myself while holding him and he's already 10 whole pounds! I can't believe he's so huge. His 3 mo...

Foggy Days in Utah

Image
Today, Josh and I woke up to this outside our window. Even though it looks depressing, I actually enjoy foggy days. I love foggy days because I feel so cozy and I definitely feel the need to drink a big mug of hot cocoa. Plus, there aren't many days like this in Utah so I'm trying to savor every moment. For the past few days, I've been able to eat eggs again! This is a picture of my favorite breakfast; Two over-easy eggs with salt and pepper, two pieces of buttered toast and a bowl of Rice Chex. It's so nice to not have any of my unusual food aversions. Josh and Lincoln had some snuggle time last night and it made me smile. I'm so happy that I have two wonderful men in my life. :) I only had to get up with Lincoln two times last night! He's becoming quite a champion sleeper! Now a few pictures of Linc! I'd have to say my absolute favorite thing about being a mom (at least thus far) is that, if I want to hold my ...

Lincoln 3 Week Update

Image
I love being a mom! I can't think of anything that I've ever done that has brought me more joy than taking care of my son.  Lincoln has been more awake this week. It's been fun to see him look around the room all curious. Plus, he's following movement with his eyes. I love that he's becoming more aware of his surroundings! He's been sleeping for longer periods lately which is refreshing! He sleeps really well in his bouncer. I'm still having a hard time getting him to sleep in his crib, but we're working on it. :) I've been really pleased with how well Chloe has been behaving around Lincoln. I was really worried that she would be jealous of him but she actually really likes him. Here's a clip of Lincoln when he was really awake! Be prepared for extreme cuteness! In other news, Josh discovered the game Skyrim. I played Morrowind years ago when I was young and I forgot how much I loved the Elder Scrolls game s...

Just Because

Image
So I'm sitting here, with my favorite little man in my arms and I wanted to make a quick little update on how he's doing. Lincoln slept for a whole 4 hours last night! It was so refreshing to get a decent amount of sleep in one go! Also, Lincoln's stump fell off this morning, so we can finally give him a decent bath now!  He did something amazing yesterday while we were doing a bit of tummy time with little Lincoln. He rolled over, twice. I wish I had been filming it because even I couldn't believe it! Next time we do tummy time, I'll have my camera ready and hopefully I can get the video to upload on here (I've been having issues with it lately) so I can show all of you! Also, he's holding up his head pretty well already and I'm so impressed with his muscles! So just to finish off this post, a picture of Josh and my son. I love seeing them together, it really melts my heart! :) Thanks for reading! Mackenzie P.S. I've r...

Lincoln 2 Week Update

Image
Lincoln has been doing a lot better this week! His Jaundice has almost completely gone away! I couldn't be more happy and excited! He's sleeping so much better and I'm so grateful for that because it means I'm sleeping better too. He sometimes has feeding frenzies in the middle of the night where he will eat every hour for 3 or 4 hours but for the most part, he's a great sleeper! He's such a big boy! He only fits into half of his 3 month clothes, plus the doctor said he's in the 95th percentile for both height and weight. He weighs 9 pounds 4 ounces and is 21 and 3/4 inches long. Josh has fallen in love with his little boy. It is so sweet to see them together, they're already forming a father-son bond. I couldn't be happier. :) I can't believe how quickly my stomach is going down! I can hardly wait to get back on the treadmill once my doctor okay's it at my 6 week appointment.  Thanks for r...

Lincoln Week 1 Update

Image
I can't believe my baby is already a week old! I'm going to do baby updates periodically to let you all know how he's doing and some milestones he's passing. I'm also going to post postpardum photos of my tummy so you can see the progress with that. Another thing, I've been sort of obsessively taking pictures and videos of Lincoln over the past week so sorry if you feel bombarded; I can't help myself! So we've had a lot of help since we left the hospital on Saturday. My mom and Josh's mom have both come over for a day or two to help out around the house and with Lincoln. I feel so blessed to have such a great support system behind me in this crazy ride of parenthood. For the past few nights, Lincoln has either been sleeping well or not sleeping at all. One of the hard things I've experienced thus far in motherhood is learning what each of Lincoln's cries means. I've been having a difficult time figuring out what Lincoln...

Lincoln's Birth Story

Image
To start, I just have to say, I have the most perfect baby in the world. So Monday the 31st of December, I had an appointment with my doctor. He gave me the awesome news that I'd be induced on the 3rd of January, which was 4 days earlier than when I was expecting. I was ecstatic. I was told to come in on the 2nd at 7 PM so they could check my progress and start some meds to get my labor started. The last week was the slowest I've ever had in my whole life. The days felt like they were getting longer and longer and I thought I might go crazy! Wednesday finally rolled around and I could hardly contain my excitement. I think I repacked my hospital bag a few times because I was nesting so bad.      Josh came home at 5:30 from work. I made some pizza for dinner and as we were eating (and getting more eager to leave for the hospital) I got a phone call. The nurse said they were too full in labor and delivery to have me come in at 7 and that they would call me later once...

"At The Hospital" Update Part 2

Okay, just a quick update! My doctor broke my water, then I caved and got an epidural about an hour and a half ago. Right now I'm 3 centimeters dilated and 90% effaced. I hope things keep progressing as quickly as they have been!   Thanks for reading!  Mackenzie

"At The Hospital" Update, Part 1

Hey everyone! So this is my first blog post from the hospital! I don't know how many of these there will be but I know I'll have at least one more when Lincoln gets here. If I can figure it out, I'll post a picture of the cute little peanut once he's here! I just wanted to update you all on what's happened so far.      So Josh and I arrived at the hospital at 10:30 PM. Apparently there have been a lot of women going into labor all at once so they had to postpone me coming in by a couple hours. Anyway, at 11 or so, my first nurse, Mary Ann, took my blood pressure and put both the contraction monitor and the fetal heartbeat monitor on my belly. By 11:30, she finished putting in the i.v. (I'm still feeling queasy about that and it's 3:47 AM) at midnight she gave me a little pill to ripen my cervix and to help the dilation process progress.      She came back to check on me about twenty minutes ago because the fetal monitor came off. She ...

Getting Anxious

So I have some great news! My doctor has me scheduled for induction on Thursday morning! But in even better news, I'm going to the hospital at 7 PM tomorrow night for some pre-induction stuff. I'm gonna be given pills that will help ripen my cervix enough so my doctor can break my water in the morning. I couldn't be more excited. However, Josh has to go back to work tomorrow after a week off and I'm gonna have to keep myself busy until 6. My best friends (either one or both) may be able to spend some time with me tomorrow to pass the time.      I'm pretty sure tomorrow's activities will include some pampering for me, lots of last minute cleaning and double (possibly triple) checking that I have everything I need in my duffle bag. I'll post a picture of my little peanut once he makes his grand entrance into this big wide world. Wish me luck! Thanks for reading! Mackenzie
